St Pete Mayor

The St. Pete Mayor has made it his mission to do the LGBTQ  community a service by making the city more inclusive. This is an important issue for many residents and visitors of St. Petersburg, as well as those who are just passing through on vacation or business trips.  Mayor Kriseman in his annual budget media statement “eight years ago, in February of 2013, I launched a campaign for mayor…I walked up these very steps to file my paperwork. I promised to Listen, Learn, and Lead, because I knew that politicians don’t have all the answers. Eight years later, I still know that. Politicians may each have their own values and beliefs, and certainly no shortage of opinions, but they don’t know everything. And in order to truly lead, you have to be willing to listen and learn.”  As such, we have decided to treat this unique opportunity a bit differently than we do our annual budget, for example.”

Rick Kriseman

Rick Kriseman is the current mayor of St. Petersburg, Florida since being elected in February 2013. He was born in Michigan and has spent most of his life living in St Petersburg Fl.  The Kriseman Family moved to Florida in 1972 where Rick as a young man attended high school in St Petersburg, Fl and eventually going to to law school and then taking jobs with law firms located throughout Tampa Bay as an attorney specializing in civil litigation and trial work.

After practicing law for ten years, Mr. Kriseman left the private sector to become involved with public service through elected office and community service organizations such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, United Way & March of Dimes.  His current term as Mayor ends in 2021, and his friendship to the LGBTQ community will follow him as he considers running for Congressman Charlie Crists’ seat in the House of Representatives.  On the Mayor personal web page he announced that he is not running for Charlie’s seat in the house.
